Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to keep our organization running. If you are interested, click the Volunteer button below to fill out the online form.  We will try to match your interests, skills, and availability with openings in our organization.  Most of our members/volunteers are Catholic, but we welcome non-Catholics as well.  Volunteering at our pantry is rewarding in many ways.  Not only are you doing God’s work, serving the poor, but you also have an opportunity to make new friends.  You’ll get to know some really great co-workers in the pantry.

Below are job descriptions for Caseworkers, Grocery Packers, and Store Pickup Team Members: three positions that represent most of our staff.  There are several other positions as well.  Some of the other operational jobs involve: greeting our food recipients when they arrive at the pantry and taking their grocery carts to them, receiving and breaking down large shipments of food from the Golden Harvest Food Bank, and restocking the shelves in the pantry.  There are also the administrative and leadership positions that are shown below.  These may not be entry-level positions, but with experience we need your help to fill these as well.  We are always looking for individuals to backup critical positions in our organization.

Registers new individuals who come to us for food or financial assistance by entering their information in our database. Answers the phone to make appointments to pick up food.  Works with those we serve to help with financial assistance for utility bills and prescription drugs. Caseworkers are assigned to a team that works one four-day week once every six weeks.  The workday starts at 8:30 am and ends at 1:15 pm.

Grocery Packer: Fills grocery carts with food and household supplies for those we serve as they arrive at the pantry.  Grocery Packers can work one or more days a month to fit with their personal schedules.  The workday starts at 8:30 am and ends at 1:15 pm.

The Store Pickup Team members pick up food at local grocery stores and household supplies at local Dollar Stores and transport them to our food pantry. After arriving at the pantry, food from the grocery stores is weighed and sorted before being placed on shelves or stored in refrigerators or freezers. It is helpful to have an SUV, van, or pickup to transport the food. Some of the food boxes can be heavy.
